Plant Maintenance Electrician I
City of Columbus, Dept. of Columbus Water and Power, Division of Water is accepting applications for a full‑time vacancy as a Plant Maintenance Electrician I. The position will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment (up to 15 kVA) and associated devices at remote tanks and booster stations. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance on generators, use of wiring diagrams and testing equipment, safe climbs or use of aerial equipment, data collection, record maintenance in a CMMS, housekeeping tasks, and general plant duties.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment up to 15 kV AC, wiring systems, and accessories.
- Perform preventative maintenance on generators and other electrical equipment.
- Diagnose faults using wiring diagrams, schematics, and testing apparatus.
- Operate safely on or near energized circuits up to and including 15 kV.
- Use precautionary work methods as prescribed in safety procedures.
- Draw and modify electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Maintain equipment, work logs, and system modification records in a CMMS.
- Climb heights or use aerial equipment to access work sites.
- Assist plant personnel, including instrument technicians, on projects involving electrical equipment.
- Clean up the work area after completion of a job.
- Two (2) years of experience troubleshooting, installing, and repairing three‑phase electrical equipment in an industrial facility.
- Substitution:
Successful completion of a formal classroom or apprenticeship training program in the general principles of electricity may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience. - Possession of a valid driver’s license.
$30.01 – $46.38 hourly.
