Security Officer – LSS Choices for Victims of Domestic Violence

Part Time Days – Saturday & Sunday, 10:30am to 7pm.

Pay rate starting at $16/hr, based on experience.

LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence is the sole resource for victims seeking shelter in Franklin County for more than four decades, providing a Temporary Emergency Shelter, 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, DV Counseling, Legal Advocacy, Peer Support Groups, and more.

Responsibilities:

• Verify entrance for residents at the side door, primarily during curfew.
• Perform internal inspections of the CHOICES facility to ensure security and check for any concerns; communicate violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and inform direct supervisor.
• Perform exterior inspections of the CHOICES facility via cameras to ensure security and check for safety concerns; communicate violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and inform direct supervisor.
• Accompany Shelter Advocates and Case Management staff to de‑escalate incidents or threats of violence using techniques from staff training.
• Respond to security concerns according to CHOICES/Lutheran Social Services policies and procedures.
• Utilize the daily log to document incidents, occurrences, and shift activity; submit to manager and security team before shift end; proactively communicate issues or concerns to the incoming Security Officer.
• Accompany staff when directed to conduct searches according to CHOICES policies & procedures, for reasonable suspicion.
• Escort staff, volunteers, visitors, and other persons to and from vehicles as requested or necessary.
• Always maintain professional demeanor with residents, donors, volunteers, and other staff.
• Follow all CHOICES policies and procedures; refer to the LSS handbook.

Requirements:

• High School degree, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
• Previous experience in a security role preferred.
• Previous experience working with a diverse population preferred.
• Previous experience in a residential social service setting preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.
