The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Academic rank and track will be commensurate with academic record and experience. The Department of Surgery at OSUWMC and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center are recruiting an open‑rank faculty member with a basic or translational science research focus in colorectal cancer.
Expertise in oncogene sis, treatment resistance, microbial interactions, bioinformatics, drug discovery, or immunotherapy is a plus. Candidates are expected to have an established research program with a successful record of publications and extramural funding, and will benefit from an extensive internal collaborative network and clinical collaborations.
- Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding, including NIH R01 or equivalent; obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
- Write and publish research in high quality peer‑reviewed scientific journals; attend and present research at national and international scientific conferences; develop a national and international scholarly reputation.
- Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees; participate in department, college, and university committees and initiatives.
- PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
- Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research.
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Current, active extramural grant funding equivalent to NIH R01.
- Academic experience is a plus.
- Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level – academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.
