Position OverviewThe Ohio State University (OSU) Department of Surgery is recruiting a nationally recognized basic scientist to join the Thoracic Oncology Program. The role is at the Associate Professor or Professor level and focuses on research in immunotherapy, targeted therapy, early detection, and experimental therapeutics. The program includes a comprehensive biorepository, a lung cancer screening clinic, and active clinical trials.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conceptualize, plan, design, implement and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding (e.g., NIH R01 or equivalent).
- Write and publish research in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals; present findings at national and international conferences; build a national and international scholarly reputation.
- Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellows; participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
- PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
- Established record of basic science or translational research relevant to lung cancer.
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01).
- Qualify for academic appointment at Assistant, Associate or Professor level – academic rank and salary commensurate with training and experience.
