Job Type: Full-Time, 8am-5pm M-F
$18-19 per hour based on experience. Competitive benefits available.
Not Eligible for Bonus or commissions until promoted to an Account Manager
Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Account Manager Trainee to join our Building Products Sales team. This role is designed for individuals who want to build a career in sales, operations, and management within the building materials industry. The Manager Trainee will learn all aspects of branch operations while developing customer relationships, sales skills, and leadership capabilities. This position would require travel at times to other locations, conventions or special events.
Key Responsibilities- Learn inside and outside sales processes for building materials (flooring, cabinets, countertops, tile, or related products)
- Assist customers including contractors, builders, designers, and homeowners
- Prepare quotes, process orders, and follow up on leads
- Develop product knowledge through hands‑on training and vendor education
- Support daily branch operations including inventory, merchandising, and logistics
- Collaborate with management on sales strategies and customer growth
- Shadow leadership to learn team management, pricing, and business operations
- Structured onboarding and on‑the‑job training
- Exposure to sales, purchasing, operations, and management
- Clear performance milestones with opportunity for advancement
- Bachelor's degree preferred (business, marketing, construction management, or related field) or equivalent work experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Customer‑focused mindset with a desire to succeed in sales
- Ability to learn technical products and systems
- Organized, dependable, and goal‑oriented
- Construction or building products knowledge is a plus, but not required
