The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that role, though the majority of duties are shared.

Responsibilities- Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service to each Guest
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise; recommend, locate and obtain merchandise based on Guest needs
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share it with the Team; stay up to date on promotions, policies, and security practices
- Maintain and build Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
- Lead by example with showmanship and excellent customer service; recognize Guest levels with the Team
- Achieve personal sales goals and contribute to store performance metrics (e.g., SPG, loyalty programs)
- Collaborate with Management to plan and communicate sales goals
- Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Identify recruiting opportunities and participate in hiring and onboarding
- Coach and develop new Teammates to meet accountability, shift orientation, Loss Prevention and sales standards
- Foster a positive floor culture and professional appearance
- Assist in leadership development, performance tracking and regular training needs
- Visual Merchandise Management
- Own and guide visual zones, ensuring standards and learning goals are met
- Demonstrate new tools and visuals and review zone ownership with Teammates
- Maintain visual standards and communicate merchandising opportunities
- Operations
- Maintain a flexible schedule (including holidays) based on store needs
- Open/Close procedures, security awareness, Loss Prevention practices
- Execute POS procedures and handle corporate communications appropriately
- Keep the store clean, organized and shoppable; communicate concerns to leadership
- Complete required paperwork and shift coverage; manage inventory of supplies
- Supervisory and Leadership
- Provide and receive feedback; support store leadership and growth
- Demonstrate professionalism and mentor teammates; participate in interviews as needed
- Travel to cover other stores within the district if required
- Perform duties with high customer service standards and contribute to team spirit
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in supervising the team

High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related retail experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb or balance, kneel or crouch; may require lifting up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentRetail store setting with a moderate noise level.
