Job Description
We invite you to apply for a Research Senior Associate position in the lab of Dr. Deepti Mathur, Ph.D. As part of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, our goal is to use the lens of metabolism to better understand and predict cancer progression. We use a combination of experimental and clinical data paired with computational analyses to model tumor evolution.
The Research Senior Associate will work closely with Dr. Mathur to establish the experimental branch of the lab, help develop projects, and conduct wet‑lab experiments independently. The Researcher 2 will help guide and train other members of the lab as needed, will assist with lab ordering and research compliance, and will work with the principal investigator on lab SOPs. The Research Senior Associate will be both a technical expert and lab manager.
Required: Has experience with basic molecular and cell biology techniques including cell culture, western blotting, cloning, nucleic acid isolation, PCR/qPCR, transfection/infection of cells, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, proliferation assays. Has experience with animal husbandry or is willing to learn.
Preferred: Has experience with metabolic assays such as soluble metabolite isolation, heavy isotope metabolite labeling, Seahorse operation.
Data AnalysisRequired: Can conduct basic data analysis including plotting data; can apply statistical tests.
Preferred: Can perform Gene Set Enrichment Analyses, curve‑fitting and IC50 analysis using Graph Pad Prism.
Required: Collaborates well with others and has strong communication abilities; has experience establishing experimental set‑up and can adapt to new environments; has extensive knowledge of lab safety and research compliance; can independently manage basic lab operations.
Preferred: Has experience with lab SOPs, ordering, mentoring.
