Overview
Are you passionate about health, safety, and research? Join our team at the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a full‑time Research Assistant. You’ll support an NIH‑funded study on cell phone use while driving and contribute to projects on distracted driving, drugged driving, teen driving, and child passenger safety.
The role involves performing research experiments, maintaining records, preparing reports and publications, and assisting in data analysis. Responsibilities include recruiting participants, conducting surveys and interviews, managing study timelines and IRB compliance, and assisting with other research tasks (some local travel required).

Responsibilities- Performs semi‑independent research experiments reliably and reproducibly according to protocols approved by the principal investigator.
- Collects and curates experimental data, maintains accurate daily logs of experiments including methods and results, and draws preliminary conclusions.
- Assists principal investigators in preparation of scientific publications, grant proposals, and presentations.
- Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies and ensures that research equipment is in good working order.
- Follows all appropriate lab safety protocols and other regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (required).
- Research experience (preferred).
- Occasionally:
Bend/twist, handle biohazard waste/chemicals/medications, climb stairs/ladder, work in cold temperatures, fume/gases/vapors, hot temperatures. - Frequently:
Lifting/carrying 0‑10 lbs, 11‑20 lbs; pushing/pulling 0‑25 lbs, 26‑40 lbs, standing, walking. - Continuously:
Audible speech, color vision, computer skills, decision making, depth perception, flexing/extending of neck, hand use (grasping, gripping, turning), hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, reaching above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing – far/near, sitting, squatting/kneeling.
