Job Summary

We are seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Dodin Group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University. The Post Doctoral Scholar studies how local environments impact the chemical physics of chemical reactions at battery and atmospheric interfaces, the homeostatic control of photosynthesis, and/or next‑generation quantum devices. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal of determining how computational and theoretical methods can provide thermodynamic design principles for these systems.

Duties will include conducting computational research work centered on developing new computational methods for simulating complex chemical and physical systems; leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer‑reviewed journals; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications

PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field by the time of hire is required, along with a strong theoretical or practical background in statistical mechanics, quantum dynamics, or Machine Learning. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a research codebase and data; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and a collaborative mentality toward research and mentoring. Required and desired skills include molecular dynamics simulation, electronic structure calculation, or quantum dynamics, and should be demonstrated through a record of peer‑reviewed publications.
