Position DescriptionResearch Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study the psychoneuroimmunology in gut-brain communication after cancer treatments as directed in the Institute of Brain, Behavior, and Immunology (formerly Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research); independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, immunoassays, and cell cultures; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples;
executes laboratory rodent experiments, including advanced behavioral testing; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; assists with development, implementation, and training for new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts;
conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken.
1. Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education experience; 0-1 years’ relevant experience required; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
