We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to assist with experiments in molecular and cellular biology. The successful candidate will work closely with our research team to perform laboratory procedures following established protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and administer injections to pup and adult rodents retro-orbitally, intraperitoneally, and subcutaneously
- Prepare mice for research including survival and non-survival surgeries approved by the IACUC committee
- Perform animal studies, such as insulin clamps, glucose tolerance test, etc.
- Perform thorough dissections, properly preserving the tissues with formalin, OCT, or freezing
- Use the cryostat to make slides from preserved tissues, perform specific staining and relative analysis
- Conduct molecular and cellular biology experiments, including immunoblotting (Western blot) and quantitative PCR (qPCR)
- Assist with general lab maintenance and inventory; follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
- Maintain and manage mouse colonies, including genotyping, breeding, weaning, experimental treatments, and basic husbandry
- Maintain accurate and organized records of experimental procedures and results, analyze and interpret data collected to make conclusions and adjustments to experiments
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred (Master’s degree not required)
- Prior hands‑on experience with mouse handling and colony maintenance is required
- Experience with animal surgery or primary cell culturing is strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow protocols precisely, and good organizational skills
- Effective communication and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
At least 2‑years of experience working with models to study metabolism/heart disease.
