ResponsibilitiesA postdoctoral scholar in the Techtmann Lab will lead research on the applications of ice‑control proteins from extremophilic microorganisms. This will include heterologous expression, purification and biochemical characterization of proteins recovered from environmental metagenomes, along with scale‑up and formulation for application‑specific endpoints. Depending on qualifications, the researcher may also perform bioinformatics analyses to identify additional ice‑control proteins and compounds. Strong scientific communication and organizational skills will be required to coordinate collaborations, supervise and mentor students in lab work related to the project.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- PhD in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, or a related field
- Experience with protein expression and purification
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry
