Overview
The Chandler Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to investigate the molecular mechanisms of alternative splicing in cancer, with a particular focus on the p53 tumor suppressor pathway and cell signaling growth pathways. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research exploring the links between DNA damage, RNA processing, and tumorigenesis, using a combination of cell culture, in vitro splicing assays, and genetically engineered mouse models.
The Research Associate will participate in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory.
- Investigating the regulation of alternative splicing in response to genotoxic stress, hypoxia and other tumor stressors.
- Characterizing models of splicing regulation and their implications for post-transcriptional regulation.
- Developing and testing therapeutic tools to modulate splicing in cancer-related genes.
- Utilizing novel delivery systems for RNA therapeutics in vivo.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. MS degree in a relevant scientific discipline is a plus, experience with RNA processing and splicing assays is highly desirable as is familiarity with animal models (mouse/rat):
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred.
