Research Associate## Department:
FAES | Food Science and Technology The employee will carry out research in support of the lab's mission of enhancing the safety of food. This involves decontaminating food from pathogenic bacteria. Results of the executed research will serve as preliminary data to be included in proposals seeking research funding. Specific research area:
The candidate will complete experiments on how biofilms of foodborne pathogens develop and methods to eradicate these biofilms.
Key duties The candidate (100% research) is expected to carry out these duties: - Independently completes advanced research related to microbial safety of food, particularly covering food decontamination, microbial biofilms, and antimicrobial resistance. - Helps in developing fundable proposals, leading to research projects that advance current scientific knowledge. - Assist other lab members accomplish their research tasks efficiently. - Prepares research findings as publications in high-impact journals.
- Present research findings to broad audience in national and international scientific meetings, and when needed to discipline’s stakeholders. Required knowledge - Capable of applying advanced knowledge that improves the safety of food. - Ability to develop solutions to challenges that are facing the food industry, particularly in the food safety arena. - Have the vision to positively impact the future of our discipline.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Master's Degree.
Educational level and experience desired - Ph.
D. degree in food science, food engineering, microbiology, or related fields. - Two years (at least) of research experience in microbiology-related laboratories.
