Laborer – Dublin Road Water Plant

The City of Columbus, Columbus Water & Power, is seeking qualified applicants for a Laborer vacancy within the Dublin Road Water Plant. This part‑time position will be responsible for facility grounds keeping, cleaning, and general maintenance. It will clean floors, buildings, grounds, equipment, piping, and vehicles; maintain tools and clean shop areas; be responsible for landscaping projects and snow removal; and repair and replace existing parts and/or structures around the inside and outside of the water plant.

Laborer will work in hot and cold weather conditions and perform inspections, repairing, and clearing debris, including working on and around water. Laborers drive vehicles, complete simple reports as required by their supervisor, may operate hand tools such as drills and saws, assist maintenance crews in performing daily tasks, gather tools, equipment, and clean up after the job is completed, and assist in the yearly washout of floc and basins using high‑pressure hoses.

Under immediate supervision, the Laborer is responsible for performing routine manual labor and related duties as required.

This is a first shift position with the office hours of Monday‑Thursday, 6:55 am‑3:25 pm.

Salary: $21.33 – 30.73 per hour.

• Assists skilled and semi‑skilled workers, construction crews, and maintenance crews in performing daily work assignments
• Upkeeps areas including mowing and edging, picking up trash, raking leaves, cleaning windows, and/or removing ice and snow from steps and walkways
• Cleans up work area after completion of a job
• Plants, weeds, and waters flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns
• Performs on equipment, grounds, and buildings
• Lifts and moves heavy materials (e.g., soil, gravel, etc.)
• Drives a vehicle to transport coworkers and materials
• Completes simple reports as required by supervisor
• May operate powered hand tools such as saws and drills

• Possession of a valid driver’s license (required for some positions)
• Pre‑employment drug screening and BCI & I background check required upon selection
• Any experience and training which would provide the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed in this job class specification
