Job DescriptionAs an Infectious Disease Control Consultant (RN) you will:
- Serve a fundamental role in prevention, intervention, and surveillance of infection or communicable diseases at Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare (COBH).
- Possess strong knowledge of COBH procedures for responding to workplace incidents and safety and prevention programs, including infection control.
- Identify and minimize health and safety risks to patients and staff in hospital and community settings, and respond and report per policies.
- Work with hospital administration, nursing leadership, and physicians in all matters related to infection control.
- Train and orient new employees, coordinate and instruct in‑service trainings as needed for staff.
- Investigate, evaluate and resolve problem areas, concerns or reports of infection; document findings and respond accordingly regarding all infection control issues.
- Assist in developing and updating hospital‑wide infection policies, procedures, and directives and ensure compliance with them.
- Serve as consultant for patient education programs.
- Conduct infection control rounds on every unit weekly; utilize findings as training opportunities and ensure correction of problems.
- Monitor sterilization and disinfection methods, environmental conditions, equipment and supplies that may pose risks.
- Manage hospital’s influenza, tuberculosis, HIV and other communicable disease programs.
- Ensure all documentation is maintained in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, accreditation standards, and governing agencies; compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Maintain expected levels of competency based on current Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) recommendations/certifications.
- Provide assistance in the medical clinic as assigned, including assisting physicians with histories, examinations, procedures, and documentation.

Current & valid license to practice professional nursing as Registered Nurse (Ohio) and 24 months experience as Registered Nurse practicing in infection control in a population/community‑based setting, including analysis & interpretation of collected infection control data & investigation & surveillance of suspected outbreaks.
