- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients) per nurse
- Unit Size: 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Floating: May float to units of similar acuity within the organization
- Minimum 2 years of recent postpartum or mother/baby nursing experience
- Active RN license (compact license accepted) or Ohio RN license in hand at time of submission
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- IV start skills and prior Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
- EPIC charting experience (EPIC proficiency required)
- Ability to pass EKG/telemetry interpretation exam prior to start
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references (one from manager/director or formal leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- NRP certification preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred — travel nurse applicants encouraged to apply
- Deliver comprehensive postpartum and couplet care to mothers and newborns (postpartum nursing)
- Perform newborn assessments, cord care, metabolic screening, and phototherapy as indicated
- Administer medications including IV antibiotics, insulin drips, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, and oxytocin (Pitocin)
- Provide discharge teaching and parent education, including breastfeeding support, lactation assistance, and circumcision care
- Monitor for postpartum complications such as hemorrhage, infection, and preeclampsia
- Care for infants with special needs, including NAS (neonatal abstinence syndrome), low birth weight, and large for gestational age
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, multiple births, and postpartum readmissions as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, pharmacy, lactation consultants, and social services
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC (electronic health record)
- Float to similar acuity units as needed to support patient care and unit staffing
