Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on a busy surgical oncology floor with rotating day/night shifts and advanced certification requirements.

Job Details

• Work in a mixed acuity PCU and Med Surg unit within a hospital setting,

• Care for adult and geriatric patients with oncology and surgical diagnoses including breast, thyroid, liver, pancreatic, colorectal, and reconstructive cases,

• Common procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergency management, insulin and heparin drips,

• Focus on infection prevention and fall risk reduction,

• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, may be 1:5 depending on patient census,

• Scheduling may include days, nights, or rotating shifts with assignments reviewed every 4 weeks based on unit needs,

• Initial orientation includes Mon-Fri days, followed by precepted on-unit training,

• Uses Epic for charting,

Job Requirements

• Active OH or compact state RN license required,

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant RN experience required,

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,

• ONS Chemo certification preferred,

• Prior experience in PCU or surgical oncology settings strongly preferred,

• Must be adaptable to dynamic scheduling with no guaranteed blocked shifts,

• Self-scheduling requests are collected but subject to departmental needs,

• Holiday and weekend shifts are based on unit requirements,

• First week orientation is dayshift; on-unit preceptorship follows,
