Overview

The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.
PositionSummary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.
Required QualificationsDegree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit.
Experience in relevant care setting preferred.
9 East Doan is a medical surgical unit. Our typical population includes, but is not limited to, geriatrics, substance abuse, acute and chronic infections, organ failures, behavior and psychiatric patients, and a little bit of everything else. 9 East Doan has a wide variety of patients which helps equip our nurses with the most up to date clinical practices and knowledge.
We typically work alongside hospitalist MDs as our primary service which cultivates a close collaborative relationship between our doctors and nurses. 9 East Doan is a 23 bed unit and the nurses typically take 4 patient assignments while working with PCAs who take 11 patient assignments. We are a new unit created 5 years ago and pioneered the dedicated education unit clinical model for the College of Nursing here are always looking for new engaged staff to build our unit’s culture and help us provide the most excellent care possible here at OSUWMC.
