- Registered Nurse in the state of employment
- Prior experience with chemical addiction and/or mental health disease including psychopharmacology
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification
- Minimum of one year experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health field
- The ability to triage in an emergency and assist nurses in medical emergencies
- Three year experience with chemical addiction and/or mental disorders including psychopharmacotherapy
- Screen and assess each patient for co‑existing medical problems and risk factors for appropriate placement for treatment
- Administer medications/treatments as ordered in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Ensure accurate recording of medication administration transactions
- Follow the treatment plan of the physician and/or medical director
- Facilitate and educate patients in group processes for chemical dependency issues, infectious disease, medical and mental health issues
- Administer, interpret, and keep accurate documentation of Mantoux test for teammates
- Assess patient response to treatments and medications, interactions, and effectiveness
- Document and summarize individual nursing care and communicate changes, progress, and immediate medical care needs to the provider for follow‑up consultation
- Order medical supplies, maintain proper inventory and record of use as per regulations
- Maintain all medical records including individual charts, daily medication charts, dosage records, progress notes, doctor’s orders, etc., as required
- Makes appointments for patients to see physician; obtains lab workups and checks with patients to see that appointments are kept
- Counsel patients regarding personal hygiene, abnormal lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and all medical matters including changes in treatment
- Discusses with physician and team important changes in treatment or noted patterns of behavior affecting treatment
- Provides referral for specialized care at local health centers and follows up on patients’ attendance and treatment
- Assists in organizing transfers of patients to and from different levels of care
- Assist in training teammates in medical conditions, responses, and patient care
- Maintain continuing education credits as required by the Board of Nursing
- Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required
- May assist doctor during physical examinations
- Keep medication room clean and orderly; maintain medical equipment
