Scope and ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse Manager leads a team of professional health care providers, fostering collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. They create and facilitate an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model and function as a key member of the health care team providing patient care and supportive services in an in-patient setting aimed at achieving positive patient outcomes, maximizing patient involvement in the plan of care, improving service levels, reducing length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs.
The span of control is based on unit capacity, unit complexity, and FTE oversight, and is informed by evidence on patient satisfaction, quality and safety, staff engagement and resilience.
Position Summary The Nurse Manager oversees plans, organizes, manages and evaluates patient care operations for a designated area on a 24-hour basis as needed; develops strategic goals; manages, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff; promotes collaboration with related departments; develops unit budgets; identifies cost-saving opportunities; participates in developing evidence-based standards of practice; identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes;
assumes leadership in addressing factors contributing to problematic outcomes.
Minimum
Education Required:
Bachelor s level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in nursing.
Additional Education Desired: Master s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in nursing required;
Master s degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Current Ohio RN license. Minimum of three years RN clinical experience and two years management experience in a relevant care setting required. Holds a current certification in nursing administration or area of clinical expertise; or certification must be achieved within the timeline of eligibility. Prior leadership and management experience required.
