Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a secure corrections oncology unit, requiring Epic charting proficiency and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a secure corrections unit serving the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections inmate population
- Float between various Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed
- Care for oncology and medical-surgical patients with diverse diagnoses, including active cancer, surgical procedures, sepsis, COPD, and more
- Assignment includes nights (3x12 hour shifts, 19:00–7:30)
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 in PCU and 1:4-5 in Medical-Surgical units
- Weekend shift scheduling varies based on unit needs
- Uses Pyxis for medication administration and Epic for electronic charting
- Care duties span both MS and Progressive Care (PCU) settings, with some shifts assigned to each
- Provide nursing care for inmates in a locked, access-controlled corrections unit with security staff present
- Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, tracheostomy management, and implementation of insulin, heparin, and pain management protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including interpretation, pharmacy, radiology, therapy, respiratory, social services, and rapid response teams
- Work in an environment supporting both oncology-specific and general medical needs
- Scrub or dress code details not specified
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Medical-Surgical and telemetry skills required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, and various respiratory support modalities
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
