Psychiatric/DD Nurse Supervisor - 2nd or 3rd Shift
Join the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health as a Psychiatric/DD Nurse Supervisor, leading nursing care and staff during second or third shift.
What You’ll Do- Oversee and coordinate nursing services for assigned patient populations (adult acute, geriatric, forensic, MI/MR).
- Supervise and direct the implementation of the nursing process and clinical care.
- Serve as liaison with interdisciplinary teams (medicine, psychology, psychiatry, social work, ancillary services).
- Provide oversight during psychiatric and medical emergencies, ensuring timely response and debriefings.
- Monitor staff record completion (admission assessments, seclusion/restraint, incident reports).
- Continuously monitor quality of nursing care through QA/PI processes.
- Maintain knowledge of COBH procedures, safety, prevention, and infection control.
- Perform additional clinical duties, including admission processes, rounds, medication management, family contact, and coordination of off‑ground appointments.
- Ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Directly supervise Psych/DD Nurses, LPNs, and TPWs/PATs on shift.
- Facilitate team scheduling and adequate staffing based on patient acuity.
- Manage overtime use and approve or disapprove leave.
- Complete performance reviews, competencies, and disciplinary processes.
- Recruit, retain, orient, coach, mentor, and support staff development.
- Participate in continuing education and CEU training to maintain holistic patient care.
- Registered RN licensed in Ohio, with 24 months exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities.
- 3 months training or experience in employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 months experience in public relations; 3 courses or 9 months experience in counseling.
- Proficiency in nursing standards of care, clinical supervision, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement.
Hourly position, pay range $43.09 - $61.56. Normal working hours: 5 8‑hour shifts. Second shift 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM; third shift 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM. Every other weekend rotation.
