PrimaryFunction
The Volunteer Office Intern supports essential daily operations of the CAPA Volunteer Office by assisting in volunteer communications, data management, organizational tasks, and event support. This is a part-time, hourly non-exempt internship with a time commitment of 12 weeks.
Duties and Responsibilities- Add and track volunteer attendance and hours in the volunteer management system.
- Deliver structured responses and messaging using established communication channels (e.g., weekly Monday Needs / Still Needing emails).
- Track and organize show passes and “blue ticket” incentive distribution.
- Support the preparation and execution of volunteer appreciation events.
- Assist with volunteer training sessions and complete assigned tasks.
- Provide general support to the Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Manager as needed.
- Attend performances to assist with operational needs and provide volunteer support.

- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate data.
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse volunteer populations.
- Willingness to learn new systems (training provided).
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort with digital tools.
- Understanding the structure of volunteer engagement roles at multiple job levels.
- Gaining experience in core duties such as scheduling, data entry, communications, and front-of-house event support.
- Exposure to volunteer recruitment, recognition, and training systems.
- Mentorship from the Volunteer Manager and collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Familiarity with volunteer engagement best-practices.
- Current student or recent graduate in any field; nonprofit studies, arts administration, social sciences, or communications preferred but not required.
- Interest in community engagement, volunteerism, performing arts or nonprofit operations.
- Ability to work 10–20 hours weekly with some schedule flexibility.
- The base rate for this role is $13.50 an hour.
- Successful background check.
- The majority of CAPA’s public events take place at night and on weekends. This position requires occasional presence on-site during nights and weekends.
