Policy & Research Manager (Advocacy, Research & Movement Building)
Are you passionate about social justice, youth advocacy, and using data to drive change? This role is ideal for a mission-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of policy, research, and community engagement.
About the RoleThe Policy & Research Manager will lead advocacy strategies, community movement-building efforts, and data-informed research initiatives. This role ensures policymakers, community partners, and the public receive timely, accurate, and meaningful research grounded in lived experiences.
You will also support fundraising and grant development while managing research dissemination and supporting internal strategic planning.
Advocacy & Policy- Develop policy priorities and recommendations.
- Track legislation, draft policy proposals, and provide testimony.
- Build and lead coalitions and relationships with decision-makers.
- Represent the organization in public speaking, media, and advocacy spaces.
- Ensure compliance with lobbying and nonprofit advocacy regulations.
- Develop and lead an annual research agenda.
- Oversee research design, data collection, qualitative engagement, analysis, and reports.
- Translate data into accessible, impactful publications, presentations, and briefings.
- Manage projects similar to KIDS COUNT, including data analysis, reporting, and public release
- Organize youth, families, and community stakeholders to elevate lived experiences.
- Lead policy forums, listening sessions, focus groups, and storytelling initiatives.
- Engage networks such as youth development programs and faith-based organizers.
- Supervise policy and organizing team members.
- Lead grant writing, reporting, and fundraising support.
- Collaborate on strategic planning, performance tracking, and communications.
- Respond to external data and information requests.
Required:
- Master’s degree in public policy, social work, economics, education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of supervisory experience.
- Skilled in policy advocacy, research, and coalition building.
- Experience with grant writing, reporting, or fund development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, research tools, and data analysis software.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Preferred:
- Doctorate degree or advanced research credentials.
- Experience managing lived experience research or community organizing.
- Strong racial equity analysis and justice-oriented mindset.
- Ability to organize, multitask, and work independently.
- Strong relational and team leadership skills.
- Servant leadership style and mission-driven.
- Passionate about youth, equity, and advocacy work.
- Results-oriented, proactive, and able to work under pressure when necessary.
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for key advocacy moments.
- Commitment to a healthy work-life balance.
