The Communications Manager is responsible for planning, creating and managing all aspects of the organization’s marketing and communications. As the sole member of the marketing department, this person must be a strong writer, creative thinker and highly organized executor who can operate independently while collaborating across departments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a sharp eye for design and detail and a firm understanding of how to deliver consistent, compelling messages that reflect our mission and brand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESContent Strategy, Writing & Storytelling
- Develop and execute a content strategy that tells the organization’s story across platforms and formats
- Write and edit engaging, mission-driven content for social media, email campaigns, website, print materials and fundraising campaigns
- Maintain and implement a consistent brand voice across all communications
- Collaborate with staff to collect stories, testimonials and program highlights for external audiences
- Create messaging that is accessible, inclusive and tailored to diverse stakeholders
- Manage the organization’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, Linked In) with timely, on-brand content
- Design digital and print materials using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva (flyers, program reports, event signage, social graphics)
- Write and design email newsletters and automated campaigns via Mailchimp
- Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies based on analytics
- Manage and update the organization’s Wix website with new content, events and pages
- Optimize site usability and SEO to ensure a high-quality user experience
- Use Google Analytics to monitor site traffic and report on key performance indicators
- Oversee the organization’s Google Ads account through the Google for Nonprofits Grant
- Create and manage paid search campaigns to increase awareness and engagement
- Track ad performance and ensure full utilization of grant funds
- Serve as the point person for all marketing collateral needs across the organization
- Produce and coordinate printed materials (posters, brochures, signage, banners) for events and programs
- Maintain an organized library of brand assets, templates, and design files
- Ensure all staff have access to up-to-date and properly branded materials
- Manage an annual marketing and content calendar
- Collaborate with leadership and program staff to promote key initiatives and events
- Align marketing efforts with fundraising, advocacy and community engagement goals
- Perform other related duties as required
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven environment
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills
- Proven ability to adapt and implement a consistent brand voice
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and InDesign) and Canva
- Experience with website management (Wix preferred) and SEO best practices
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects independently
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and managing Google Ads for Nonprofits
- Experience coordinating print production and working with vendors
- Passion for social impact and alignment with our mission and values
