Our client (a multi-market law firm) is seeking a Communications Manager to lead external communications and public relations. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in professional services communications, strong media relationships, and the ability to operate confidently within a complex organization.
Responsibilities- Own the firm’s external communications strategy, aligning messaging across markets, practices, and leadership initiatives.
- Serve as the central point of accountability for brand voice and positioning across public-facing channels.
- Partner with firm leadership and attorneys to identify storytelling opportunities that elevate individual, practice, and firm visibility.
- Develop and execute media strategies, including proactive pitching and responsive engagement with journalists.
- Act as the firm’s primary media contact, managing inquiries and coordinating interviews and placements.
- Write, edit, and oversee high-quality content including press releases, thought leadership, website copy, and social media.
- Manage and direct external PR agencies, ensuring clear expectations, strategic alignment, and measurable outcomes.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage and engagement to inform ongoing strategy.
- Lead submissions for legal, business, and market-specific awards and recognitions.
- Track emerging communications and social trends, translating insights into opportunities to strengthen the firm’s profile.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in communications or public relations, ideally within law firms, professional services, or real estate.
- Proven ability to manage sophisticated messaging for legal and executive audiences.
- Strong media relations background with demonstrated placement success.
- Experience working across multiple offices or stakeholder groups.
- Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
- Comfort balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on execution.
- Willingness to travel periodically as needed.
