What You'll Work On

This is an onsite position, with ability for career growth within the Quality Lab.

  • Conduct raw ingredient analysis, including simple titrations, identity, and sediment testing.
  • Conduct in-process and finished product testing, including vitamin, protein, mineral analyses, fat by Mojonnier extraction, TVTrac/GC methods, total solids, iodide and chloride testing, vitamin C testing, choline determination, lactose, and fatty acid profiles by Gas Chromatography.
  • Perform standardization for test and check can preparation, KOH, potassium citrate, citric acid, and final water calculations and physical tests such as pH, viscosity, grain color, and sensory evaluation.
  • Make batch adjustments by generating appropriate documentation for batch corrections and optimizations; manage batch calculations and related controlled documentation.
  • Conduct special testing under Interim Operating Procedures or required validation/certification protocols and assist in investigations under the Retest Policy.
  • Observe all safety rules and report incidents, near misses, and chemical spills to the crew leader and/or supervisor.
  • Complete project work as assigned, including troubleshooting and maintenance of analytical equipment and test methods, maintaining documentation, coordinating with vendors/plant/Division personnel, and developing training.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of all analytical laboratory supplies and train new chemists on laboratory operations, including methods, procedures, documentation, maintenance and safety.
  • Conduct control sample analysis to determine validity of concurrent testing; water testing of minerals and volatile organic contaminants; CIP residual testing; testing of compressed gases for moisture and hydrocarbons; daily flavor and aroma assessment of oils; weekly peroxide testing of oils; and complete associated documentation and housekeeping responsibilities.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
