Under general direction, is responsible for ensuring the City’s green initiatives are fully incorporated and implemented pertaining to all aspects of department operations; performs related duties as required.

of Work
- Participates in the implementation of the Department’s Blueprint Columbus and MS4 program, with particular emphasis on community outreach.
- Reviews and incorporates green infrastructure practices into all applicable capital projects within the department.
- Coordinates as needed with the Office of the Mayor and other City departments on sustainability goals and green projects.
- Recommends to director specific sustainability goals to be achieved for the department; oversees and monitors the accomplishment of these goals.
- Meets with management to increase their understanding of the department’s role and responsibility towards sustainability goals and green initiatives.
- Makes recommendations to or advises management on the need to potentially modify current policy or procedures to best enable the department to meet sustainability and green initiative goals.
- Performs liaison functions with regulatory agencies, political entities, trade associations, and community groups to determine their methods, policies, and concerns on regulatory issues.
- Nurtures and supports collaborative relationships with environmental stakeholders, both inside and outside the City.
- Supervises assigned staff to include signing performance appraisals, approving leave requests, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Oversee other projects as requested by the Director.
- May develop, refine, manage, and implement the Regulatory Compliance Program in the Department of Public Utilities.
- May establish, maintain, and implement processes, procedures, and documentation to assist all operations in maintaining full compliance with all environmental laws, regulations, permit requirements and conditions, and City policy.
