Undergraduate Fellowships Office Program Manager## Department:

Undergraduate Education | High Impact Practices This position is an integral part of the Office of Academic Enrichment which serves all Ohio State undergraduate students. The Program Manager has both student-facing and faculty facing roles. Under the direction of the Program Director for High Impact Practices, the program manager is OSU’s lead on all aspects of the Undergraduate Fellowship Office. The results of this position’s work have a significant and long-term impact, as fellowship winners raise the visibility and prestige of the university.

The fellowship manager is expected to maintain industry knowledge on roughly 30 different awards and publicize and support applicants to all these awards. The manager advises interested students on appropriate fellowship opportunities and prepares competitive students to succeed through individualized assistance in preparing personal essays portfolios and application packages and grooming candidates for interviews. The manager tracks student progress across all four years of a student’s career and advises them to develop fellowship candidates.

The manager is responsible for acquiring, processing, and delivering student records such as transcripts to fellowship foundations. The manager authors official nomination letters sent to foundation representatives. The manager will regularly deliver information sessions and application writing workshops. The manager is expected to develop new, creative, and unique measures to ensure fellowship success among OSU undergraduates. The program manager is responsible for increasing visibility and understanding of UFO operations across the campus community.

The manager liaises with foundation representatives to ensure appropriate preparation of viable candidates. The manager represents university at regional national and international meetings of fellowship advisers. The manager is responsible for creating a culture of fellowships on campus, and therefore develops and maintains relationships with staff and faculty across the university. The manager recruits faculty to serve on nomination, advisory, and mock interview committees.

The manager also works with faculty on writing letters of recommendations. The manager liaises with units across campus. The manager is expected to participate widely in programming across campus, such as research festivals, prestigious student cohort programming, and scholarship interviews, to cultivate relationships resulting in fellowship applicants. The manager coordinates with the Graduate School and Office of International Affairs to run the Fulbright U.S. Student program and related events like the annual Fulbright Week.

The manager also works with University Marketing and the Office of the President to make sure the campus community and leadership is apprised of prestigious award winners. The program manager supervises one entry-level full-time staff member, providing guidance as they learn the field.…
