Compensation: $150,000- $185,000 per year (based on experience)
Chemcote is seeking an experienced Roofing Director of Operations to lead and scale our commercial roofing division. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing field operations, driving production, ensuring safety and quality, and delivering profitable, on-time roofing projects.
As an employee-owned (ESOP) company, we are looking for a leader who takes ownership of results, develops strong teams, and builds systems that support long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead all commercial roofing operations including production, scheduling, and field execution
- Oversee foremen, superintendents, and project managers
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Review job budgets, labor, material usage, and profitability
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA, company safety policies, and drug-free workplace standards
- Partner with Safety Director on training, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Conduct job site audits and safety reviews
People & Performance
- Recruit, develop, and retain roofing crews and supervisors
- Set expectations, conduct performance reviews, and implement corrective action when needed
- Build a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and professionalism
- Review contracts, schedules, and scopes of work
- Monitor labor hours, change orders, material usage, and billing accuracy
- Work closely with estimators, sales, and accounting to maximize margins
Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the operational point of contact for key clients and general contractors
- Resolve field issues quickly and professionally
- Support business development by delivering reliable, high-quality results
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in commercial roofing operations or project management
- Proven experience leading field teams and managing multiple projects
- Strong knowledge of roofing systems, safety standards, and production workflows
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and job profitability
- Ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
