Full-time position within the Division of Water to manage operations of the Parsons Avenue Water Plant (PAWP). Responsible for planning, developing, and administering resources of the operations staff to process and distribute water in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Coordinate and direct activities of workers engaged in monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment/processing equipment. Develop, administer, initiate and interpret policy, practices, and procedures governing the Operations section of the plant within applicable guidelines and legal constraints.
Advise upper management regarding operations issues such as budgeting, staffing, planning, and meeting regulatory requirements, and monitor expenditures to ensure budgets are followed. Assist in formulation of long‑term plans for facility improvements. Supervise operations personnel including approving/disapproving leave requests, conducting performance evaluations, initiating disciplinary action, and act as Plant Manager in their absence.
Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Salary Range$46.41 – $69.63 per hour
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and administer the resources of the operation’s staff to process and distribute water in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop, administer, initiate, and interpret policies, practices, and procedures governing the Operations Section within applicable guidelines and legal constraints.
- Prepare and direct preparation of periodic status reports.
- Advise upper management regarding operations issues such as budgeting, staffing, planning, and regulatory compliance; monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to budgets.
- Supervise operations personnel, including approving/disapproving leave requests, conducting performance evaluations, and initiating disciplinary action.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of workers engaged in monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment/processing equipment.
- Manage the safety program and OSHA training for all employees.
- Assist in the formulation of long‑term plans for facility improvements.
- Collaborate with watershed, distribution, water plant, and laboratory managers to ensure water quality goals and regulations are met.
- Serve in other capacities appropriate to the mission of water supply in the division.
- Minimum 2 years of leading and participating in monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment processes in a water plant rated Class III or higher.
- Possession of a valid EPA State of Ohio Class III or IV Water Supply Operator certificate for water treatment works.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Preferred candidate will have a Class IV Water Supply Operator certificate or be willing to obtain it within 4 years.
