Gilbane is seeking a Preconstruction Executive to lead preconstruction and design phase services and manage preconstruction team for multiple projects within a Business Unit (BU) or a single large complex project.

The Preconstruction Executive plays a critical role within the business unit, influencing decisions and providing expertise. You will work with a team of experienced professionals, receive initial training and guidance, and benefit from long‑term partnership and Gilbane University training opportunities.
Responsibilities- Coordinate with Divisional and Business Unit leadership on strategic plans and risk identification/mitigation.
- Engage the market with architects and engineering firms to build long‑lasting strategic relationships.
- Participate in external networking and community events within the AEC community.
- Actively build the fee pro and RFP responses on pursuits.
- Lead pursuits and network opportunities as a doer‑seller.
- Coach operations staff on Gilbane preconstruction and procurement practices to bring consistent processes.
- Collaborate with Economic Inclusion and Purchasing to expand Diverse‑Owned and Small Business partnerships.
- Responsible for career development and coaching of team members.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members.
- Interpret and translate organizational strategy, ensuring team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals.
- Partner with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies, client capture plans, and account plans. Optimize profit levers and gross profit margin tactics to achieve performance targets. Lead opportunities to strengthen client, partner, and industry relationships to position Gilbane as the “Builder of Choice.”
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field.
- 9‑12 years of experience leading operations, procurement, estimating, scheduling, or supply chain management teams.
- 5‑7 years of experience in the construction management industry or A/E industry.
- Experience on multiple project delivery types preferred (CMR, DB, IPD, etc.).
- Design phase/design‑build management experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Exceptional presentation skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of industry trends, local market, and economic conditions.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and teams concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multi‑disciplined team in achieving project goals.
- Proven record of delivering results in a complex business environment.
