Job Description SummaryThis position is responsible for basic maintenance and facility upkeep. Responsibilities include general maintenance, preventative maintenance, grounds keeping, and painting. This position also supports other facilities associates, projects, and activities based on organizational needs. The duties of this position may vary based on campus location, business needs, and/or seasonality of tasks performed. TYPICAL HOURS OF WORK: 7:30 a‑4:00 PM, MON‑FRI. ASSOCIATE WILL SHARE ON‑CALL DUTIES.
ResponsibilitiesAnd Duties
50% Maintenance General & Preventative
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure effective facilities operations within a healthcare environment.
- Preventive maintenance includes HVAC, plumbing, mechanical rooms, electrical systems, equipment, windows, doors, elevators, etc.
- Responds to service calls within Ohio Health properties, including administrative, patient care, public areas.
- Service examples include cleaning/adjusting/testing/repairing/replacement of HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, switches, outlets, wiring, and other necessary equipment.
- Troubleshoots minor medical gas equipment and kitchen equipment.
40% General Corrective Maintenance in Plant Operations
- Repairs boilers, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers.
- Repairs patient‑care equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, stretchers.
- Repairs administrative office equipment like chairs and desks.
- Repairs public‑area furniture and other items.
- Contacts vendors for warranty compliance and pricing for non‑warranty projects.
- Handles carpentry and painting services in patient care, administrative, and public areas per building and life safety codes.
- Repairs and installs doors, locks, ceilings, walls, floors, cabinets, glass, and equipment.
- Performs minimal painting/patching, including material estimates, area preparation, application, and cleanup.
10% Equipment and Facility Inspection
- Coordinates and inspects projects, physical structures, and equipment to ensure quality standards and compliance with city/state codes and JCAHO.
- Employee expected to perform all other duties as requested by supervisor.
As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School or GED (Required). Driver’s License (DL).
Specialized Knowledge- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and commercial heating and cooling.
- Knowledge of building safety codes, blueprints, drawings, manufacturer’s instructions.
- Experience with electronics, electricity, plumbing, mechanical workings.
- Good knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Must be able to work in team‑oriented environment.
- 2–3 years in commercial or building maintenance.
Day shift. 40 hours per week.
