Location:

Columbus, Ohio (Regional Travel: Ohio + limited West Virginia)
Compensation: $55,000 – $65,000 base salary
Shift: Primarily Monday–Friday, first shift; variable hours based on customer demand

Mission of the Role

This role exists to protect uptime, reliability, and customer trust across research labs, food production facilities, universities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and hospitals throughout Ohio. The Field Service Technician ensures critical laboratory and analytical equipment performs safely, accurately, and consistently — enabling customers to operate without disruption.

Territory & Travel
  • Primary coverage:
    State of Ohio
  • Occasional support in West Virginia
  • Limited overnight travel; most work allows you to return home same day
  • Rare extended travel (Monday–Friday) may occur when supporting other regions
  • All travel expenses covered
  • Local and overnight per diem provided
What You Will Be Responsible For (Performance Objectives)
  • Ensure Equipment Uptime:
    Diagnose, repair, and maintain digestion systems, moisture/solids analyzers, and related laboratory instrumentation across assigned territory.
  • Represent the Brand with Professionalism:
    Serve as the face of the organization on customer sites — building trust with engineers, lab managers, food production teams, and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Execute Independent Field Operations:
    Manage service schedule, prioritize calls, and operate autonomously while maintaining communication with the service manager.
  • Maintain Technical Mastery:
    Continuously improve knowledge of instrumentation, troubleshooting techniques, and emerging product updates through structured onboarding and ongoing training.
  • Deliver Mission-Ready Service:
    Respond to urgent service calls — including after-hours or 24-hour production environments when required — to ensure customer continuity.

  • Independently handling full service territory
  • Building repeat-trust relationships with key accounts
  • Demonstrating safe, accurate, and timely service execution
  • Managing travel efficiently while maintaining work‑life balance

Work Schedule Expectations

This is not a fixed 9–5 role. Some weeks may be lighter (30–40 hours). Others may require extended days (up to 60 hours) depending on customer demand and travel distance. Flexibility and professionalism are essential.

Growth Path

Many field technicians advance from entry‑level service roles to senior technician or regional leadership positions. Long‑term career stability is common within the organization, with many team members serving 20+ years.

Requirements
  • Must have served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Reserves, or U.S. National Guard.
  • Technical troubleshooting background (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, or electronics). Military maintenance, avionics, calibration, or field service experience highly transferable.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer‑facing professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel regionally.
