Job Purpose

Performance Academies seeks a dedicated, dependable regional custodian to join our team. Custodians perform maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms, and cleaning halls and classrooms.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain assigned buildings neat and clean at all times.
  • Perform work in an acceptable manner.
  • Ensure restroom cleanliness.
  • Maintain carpet/floor cleanliness.
  • Perform minor repairs.
  • Keep adequate custodial supplies on hand and current on orders.
  • Complete work in a reasonable time.
  • Organize tasks and complete them in the absence of supervision.
  • Punctual attendance and fulfill contract hours.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and a valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Comply with safety practices and complete yearly safety training.
  • Accept responsibilities related to work performed and comply with oral and written instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Principal, or Assistant Principal.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Use of power equipment to buff and restore floors; routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms; routine maintenance of custodial equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Dexterity to operate a computer and other technology components.
  • Maintain positive interaction with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ten (10) days off during summer break, subject to approval by Principal/Management.
  • Travel between regional assigned locations.
Physical Requirements
  • Considerable physical activity; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs. Physical work >70% of the job.
  • Exposure to hazards or physical risks; basic safety precautions required.
  • Possible moderate exposure to elements, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
Dress Code
  • Clothing should be neat, clean, and free from holes or excessive wear.
  • Shoes comfortable, professional, and appropriate for the demands.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in grooming and hygiene; avoid excessive jewelry, distracting accessories; cover tattoos; keep piercings minimal and discreet.
