Agency OverviewThe Ohio Attorney General's Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio's past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state's future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws.
In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.
The Education Section represents Ohio’s 36 public colleges and universities and several state agencies including the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, the State Board of Education of Ohio, and the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The Section’s attorneys represent client agencies in federal court, state court, and in administrative hearings. The attorneys also provide legal advice to public colleges and universities and state agencies on a variety of legal issues including, but not limited to, legal compliance, student affairs, college governance, policy, employment issues, health care, transactional matters, public relations, public records and open meetings, and administrative procedures.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working as an attorney and preferably will have experience in federal court. This position requires a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is our Columbus, Ohio office.

QualificationsLicensed to practice law in the State of Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code;
At least 5 years of experience working as an attorney; and Federal Court experience, preferred.
