We are hiring a skilled Data Center Optical Technician to support critical telecom infrastructure within a live production environment. This position requires strong hands-on experience working with fiber, transport equipment, and structured cabling inside large-scale data centers.

Position OverviewThe technician will support installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational activities across optical and IP transport systems. This is a field-based data center role requiring shift flexibility and adherence to strict operational procedures.
Core Responsibilities Operational & Break-Fix Support- Perform real-time troubleshooting within active data center environments.
- Support after-hours maintenance windows and emergency response activities.
- Coordinate with remote engineering teams to restore services efficiently.
- Execute installation tasks based on approved procedures and technical documentation.
- Rack, stack, cable, label, and test transport and network hardware.
- Interpret diagrams, job aids, and method of procedures (MOPs).
- Support card-level replacements and hardware swaps.
- Install and manage Ethernet and fiber infrastructure (single-mode and multi-mode).
- Perform cable routing, lacing, terminating, and testing.
- Maintain clean and standards-compliant rack organization.
- Work overhead and within structured cable pathways.
- Support physical layer testing and circuit turn-up activities.
- Validate connectivity and assist with troubleshooting network transport issues.
- Work within AC and DC powered environments.
- Follow data center best practices for redundancy and cable management.
- Maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
- 3–5 years in data center operations or telecom infrastructure environments.
- Hands-on experience with fiber and Ethernet deployments.
- Familiarity with telecom transport and IP network environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights/weekends when required.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined rack spaces.
- Capable of handling physically demanding cabling activities.
