As a member of this cross-functional group, you’ll collaborate with teams across Liberty Mutual to deliver analysis that unlocks insights and sparks new, better ways of working.

Join the Property & Specialty Product Design & Modeling (P&S PDM) department to develop industry‑leading pricing and underwriting models. We pride ourselves in developing the best‑in‑class models and making the team an awesome place to work! The P&S PDM team turns DS insights into business value and partners closely with business stakeholders to expertly align risk with rate. Analyst roles within the team range from leaning more heavily into research to inform our product design, to directly interfacing with regulators and Profit & Loss owners.

Our analysts make an impact by improving model fits, researching new modeling techniques, increasing the speed of model deployments, improving capabilities to test, calibrate, and monitor models, and serving as technical experts to explain our models to the broader Property & Specialty organization. Responsibilities
  • Assist on design of pricing programs deployment pipeline from modelling to product launch in coordination with the Deployments team
  • Identify areas for potential process improvements and implement necessary changes to bring products speed to market accurately and efficiently
  • Collaborate within the team to successfully implement new pricing programs as desired
  • Evaluate and verify the outputs and processes, promptly communicating any issues that may arise
  • Develop line-of-business expertise for the property and specialty pricing and underwriting programs
  • Apply knowledge of sophisticated analytical techniques to manipulate structured and unstructured datasets for generating insights to inform business decisions
  • Translate quantitative analyses and findings into accessible visuals for non-technical audiences and effectively communicate those in written, oral, and presentation formats
  • Support other property and specialty pricing programs including building models and rollouts with adjusting models due to state restrictions, building supporting documents and responding to DOI objections
  • Regularly engage with the data science community and participate in cross-functional working groups
Preferred Candidate Qualifications
  • Have proficient level of knowledge with predictive modeling software (e.g., Emblem, Radar) and with Python, including the ability to support and develop related packages.
  • Have a strong understanding of rating algorithm structures, including their components, inputs, and outputs
Qualifications
  • Data extraction and manipulation skills, EDA, transformations, and general linear models (GLM); preferred skills of basic CART and GLM.
  • Foundational knowledge of predictive analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Has a value-driven perspective with regard to understanding of work context and impact.
  • Competencies typically acquired through a Master’s degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other scientific field of study) and no professional experience may be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
