Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Security Network Engineer to join our client’s Cybersecurity Network Governance team. This role is responsible for ensuring that enterprise firewall configurations and network communications align with regulatory requirements and internal security standards. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical firewall expertise with strong governance and compliance experience, helping safeguard both internal systems and external client connectivity across a complex, large-scale environment.

• Analyze network communication risks and ensure compliance with internal security standards and external regulatory requirements.
• Review and approve high-volume pre-implementation firewall change requests (2,000+ per month), ensuring adherence to established policies and best practices.
• Conduct post-change audits of firewall rules and configurations to confirm proper implementation and alignment with approved requests.
• Evaluate and assess internal and external network traffic flows to ensure secure communications across on-premise and cloud-based environments.
• Identify security gaps or policy violations and submit findings for remediation tracking in collaboration with cybersecurity teams and application owners.
• Design, implement, and maintain network flows, triggers, and security actions supporting both internal systems and external customer connectivity.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for firewall governance and network security processes.
• Provide deep technical expertise in Palo Alto firewall technologies, including advanced rule configuration, zone security design, and policy optimization (beyond GUI-level administration).
• Support governance and compliance initiatives, including PCI DSS and other regulatory reporting requirements.

• 6+ years of hands-on experience administering and managing firewalls in large enterprise environments.
• Strong background in network engineering fundamentals, including IP addressing, subnetting, protocols, routing, and secure network design principles.
• Minimum 5+ years of deep, technical experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including rule configuration, auditing, secure zone design, and best-practice policy management.
• Experience operating within highly complex, siloed enterprise environments with large-scale rule sets (e.g., 500,000+ firewall rules) across internal, private circuit, server farm, and cloud infrastructures.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, including protocol security evaluation and risk assessment.
• Experience supporting PCI DSS compliance requirements.

• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or vendor-specific firewall certifications.
• Experience with security automation and workflow optimization.
• Familiarity with governance and security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
