Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced SAP Utilities Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in SAP IDEX (formerly SAP MPM / SAP APE) to support Utilities Choice and Market Communication processes in deregulated energy markets. The consultant will work in a client-facing, onsite role, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, market operators, and technical teams to support, configure, and enhance SAP IS-U Choice processes.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities- Design, configure, and support SAP IDEX / SAP MPM / SAP APE solutions for Utilities Choice functions
- Support deregulated market processes including enrollments, drops, switches, meter reads, billing determinants, and settlements
- Configure and manage IDEX message processing, workflows, monitoring, and exception handling
- Work extensively with EDI, IDOCs, and XML-based market messages and resolve related issues
- Collaborate with business users, market operators (ISO/RTO), and third-party vendors
- Support unit testing, integration testing, UAT, and production deployments
- Provide production support, issue analysis, and troubleshooting for Utilities Choice processes
- Prepare and maintain functional specifications, documentation, and process flows
- 8+ years of experience in SAP IS-U
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP IDEX / SAP MPM / SAP APE
- In-depth knowledge of Utilities Choice / Deregulated Energy Market processes
- Experience with market roles such as LDC, Supplier, ISO/RTO interactions
- Strong understanding of EDI, IDOCs, and market communication messaging
- Experience in onsite, client-facing roles
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with US Utilities markets
- Knowledge of SAP S/4
HANA Utilities (IDEX on S/4 is a plus) - Prior experience supporting electric or gas deregulated markets
- Experience working on large-scale utility transformation programs
