Position: IT Business Analyst (W2 Contract Only)

IT Business Analyst

Role: IT Business Analyst

Location: Columbus, OH - 5 days onsite

Type: 12 Months

As an IT Business Analyst, you will identify, define, and document business requirements and functional specifications for various IT projects and initiatives. You will collaborate with service providers, business partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of expectations, deliverables, and timelines. You will become knowledgeable of assigned applications and work with service partners to resolve operational service-based issues, review and analyze progress on service incidents and requests, and prepare performance and status information for client IT and business leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, using presentations, reports, diagrams, and user stories.
  • Applies problem-solving skills and analytical thinking to troubleshoot issues, resolve conflicts, and propose solutions.
  • Measures and monitors the performance, quality, and value of IT services and solutions, using metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assesses the business impact of IT risks and issues and escalates them as needed to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Demonstrates strong business and budgeting skills, with financial acumen to analyze and communicate trends.
  • Understands and complies with contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) of service providers.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of the application domain, including business processes, data flows, systems architecture, and integration points.
  • Implements continuous improvement practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitates workshops to evolve scope, gathers detailed requirements, develops use cases, and visualizes solutions.
  • Ensures end-to-end traceability of quality business requirements using appropriate tools and templates.
  • Engages with stakeholders to influence solution design to meet business goals, scope, and strategy requirements.
  • Assists testing teams with appropriate test scripts and manages change requests through standard processes.
  • Participates in vendor reviews, product discussions, and reviews proposed designs for usability and requirements satisfaction.
  • Observes various business processes to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience providing fundamental knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts.
  • 3–4 years of experience in application, services, or application analysis, deployment, and support.
  • Experience working closely with service providers and delegating operational activities to them, as directed by a director or manager.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and software component relationships, trends, and best practices for on-premise and SaaS solutions.
  • Strong computer skills, including operating systems, MS Office Suite, MS Project, and other IT applications; ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, including process analysis, development, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong collaboration, negotiation, communication, organizational, people management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to travel to client business units or service provider locations as needed.
  • Client business operations knowledge.
  • 2+ years of experience working with support vendors in a software support environment.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and metrics.
  • CBAP certification is a plus.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
