Job Description Summary
Provides technical leadership and functional direction on formulation and definition of system scope and objectives. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and formulate desired results. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written or how software will be utilized. Works with Portfolio Architects to elaborate on the solution architecture for the application area, and reviews the detailed designs working with the technical lead to ensure compliance with overall solution vision, and guides the teams to implement solutions, and documents applications in areas including messaging and collaboration, web technologies, wireless technologies, system interfaces, database querying, and reporting.
Champions the technology and implementation for identified application area(s), manage application level technical debt, guide the application stakeholders on the prioritization of the technical scope. current applications/processes for technical performance and recommend target benchmarks. Helps the team troubleshoot any technical problems by providing problem resolution, follow-up, and education.
Application Architecture Maintenance (40%)
- Establishes solution architecture for the application introduction, enhancement and mitigation of technical risks.
- Develops and maintains architectural work products for the responsible applications.
Collaboration with Stakeholders (30%)
- Communicate with key stakeholders to sell and improve the architecture process, its outcome, and ongoing results.
- Collaborates with Portfolio and Chief architects on technology evolution.
- Architecture Strategy/
Roadmap:
Work with leadership to provide the analysis, design, and development of a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint based on budget constraints. Focused on the high-level information repositories and information flows that will meet the requirements of the business strategies and business processes. - Tool Selection:
Identify the tools and components used within the domain based on the enterprise toolset and can define exceptions as warranted. Facilitate RFP and proof-of- concepts as needed, and provide recommendation to leadership related to tool selection/purchase.
Governance at the application level (10%)
- Enterprise Governance/Standards:
Work with leadership to establish and enforce enterprise wide standards. Participate in the EA ecosystem-wide and domain's architecture Governance process. Oversight/Consulting:
Consult with development and project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture. Ensures the conceptual completeness of the technical solution including adherence to enterprise standards. - Technical Leadership:
Develop, motivate, and directs staff to create a team environment. Provides strategic consultation to development teams on a as needed basis. Communicates and works with application or infrastructure teams to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture requirements.
Technology Research (20%)
- Education/Research/Evaluation:
Researches and evaluates emerging technology, industry and market trends.
Bachelor's Degree Field of Study:
Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience: 5-7 relevant IT experience.

Qualification:
Bachelor of science in Computer science, Engineering, or related technical discipline with previous experience in application development with hands-on programming.
