Job DescriptionThe Tax AI Associate role supports adoption of AI and enabling technologies across 1,000+ tax professionals through enablement, requirements translation, co-building, and disciplined testing. This position sits at the intersection of tax technical work and AI/technology execution, partnering with tax subject matter experts (SMEs) and product/technology teams to translate real tax “jobs to be done” into usable tools, repeatable workflows, and scalable training.
You will contribute to end-to-end delivery across the lifecycle—from discovery and requirements to enablement and co-building, to user acceptance testing and iterative improvement—with a focus on practical outcomes and responsible use within enterprise tools.
- Requirements Gathering & Product Translation:
Partner with tax SMEs to map technical tax workflows and identify high-value “jobs to be done” suitable for AI/technology augmentation; produce high-quality user stories, requirements documentation, and acceptance criteria; maintain organized backlogs and documentation to enable efficient triage, prioritization, and delivery. - Enablement & Training Delivery:
Plan and lead enablement sessions for tax teams and new hires; create training materials and practical exercises translating AI concepts into daily tax work outcomes. - Co-Building with Tax SMEs:
Assist practitioners in developing AI-enabled workflows and tools within controlled environments (e.g., enterprise ChatGPT, Alteryx, proprietary platforms); convert one-off experiments into standardized assets (templates, playbooks, reusable prompts, documented procedures). - Communications & Thought Leadership:
Create internal communications, user guides, release notes, and change management materials to drive adoption; contribute to practice-facing AI in tax thought leadership. - Testing, QA, and Continuous Improvement:
Conduct user acceptance testing, document outcomes and issues, log defects, and support QA testing and validation of fixes before broader release. - Stakeholders &
Collaboration:
Partner with tax practitioners, leadership, technology teams, and risk/compliance stakeholders to align on adoption, governance, and tool roadmaps.
- Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting (with tax focus), or equivalent tax-related discipline.
- Demonstrated tax-domain understanding sufficient to engage in technical workflow discussions and translate work into requirements.
- Proficiency with ChatGPT or equivalent enterprise-grade customizable AI tools, including ability to produce repeatable workflows and guidance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead enablement sessions; high organizational discipline for documentation and backlog tracking.
- Coding or automation skills (e.g., Python) applied to workflow enablement, document processing, or analytics.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and AI services; experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence (or similar tooling).
- Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops, agile delivery, and writing user stories/backlogs; experience with Alteryx or similar tools.
- Open to Associate or Senior Associate level; location flexibility across the United States.
The wage range is $62,500.00 - $ per year, reflecting factors such as experience, training, and location. Crowe offers a comprehensive total rewards package; details vary by location and role.
