Software Engineer III - SQL Database Engineer

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking and Small Business Lending, you will be a seasoned member of an agile team, tasked with designing and delivering trusted, market‑leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. Your role involves implementing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas, supporting various business functions to achieve the firm's business objectives.

• Supports review of controls to ensure sufficient protection of enterprise data.
• Responsible for making configurations/customization changes in one to two tools to generate a product at the business/customer request and advising colleagues in their requests.

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems.
• Creates secure and high‑quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.

• Formal training or certification on SQL concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Advanced SQL skills; SQL Server and Postgre
  
  SQL experience in any other RDBMS.
• Hands‑on practical experience delivering database design, database modelling, database administration, development, testing, and operational stability.
• Hands on experience with Stored Proc, views, triggers, indexes and performance tuning.
• 5+ years of experience in Database technologies MS‑SQL Server, Postgres, Aurora Postgres.
• 2+ plus years of experience in AWS technologies especially Aurora and Amazon RDS.
• Proven understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security in Software Development Life Cycle.
• Proven understanding and experience in AWS and Terraform.
• Proven experience in understanding requirement related to extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Additional technologies like Liquibase and other automated deployment tools.

• Knowledge about Database engineering and Data warehousing Concepts.
• Experience with Agile based project methodology.
• Ability to identify risks/issues for the project and manage them accordingly.
• Knowledge or experience on ETL technologies like Informatica or Ab‑inito.
