Position OverviewThe Gumina lab has a position for an ambitious Post Doctoral Scholar to examine the role of inflammation in the progression of atherosclerosis. The PD Researcher will pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of Dr. Gumina; plan, design, and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the study of the role of inflammation in modulating atherosclerosis;
collect and analyze data for research sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH), as well as by other agencies; identify and select problems to be studied; develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols; attend research seminars; contribute to manuscript preparation and support technical writing; participate in the preparation of grant applications for extramural funding.
- Plan, design, and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the study of inflammation’s role in atherosclerosis.
- Collect and analyze data for research sponsored by the NIH and other agencies.
- Identify and select problems to be studied.
- Develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols.
- Attend research seminars; contribute to manuscript preparation and support technical writing; participate in the preparation of grant applications for extramural funding.
- Doctoral degree in a biological or health sciences field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in animal studies, molecular biology techniques, cell signaling pathways and prior training in atherosclerosis, immunology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology is strongly preferred.
- Scientific publication record desired.
