Job Opportunity – Medical Oncology Progressive Care Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Self-schedule requests with flexibility; orientation begins Monday-Friday dayshift for week one, followed by 36 hours on-unit with preceptor

Highlights:

  • 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 PCU-level beds providing high-acuity progressive care
  • Patient ratio of 1:3 for PCU patients and 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required – strong PCU background is essential
  • Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and Respiratory Services
  • Self-scheduling system allows you to request preferred shifts before final schedule posting
  • 13-week travel assignment with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity PCU patient experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Core competencies:

    telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC management, PCA pumps, feeding tube care, port access, and respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
  • Preferred skills: chemotherapy administration and monitoring, wound vac management, arterial line care, insulin drip titration, and cardiac drip management
  • Willingness to float to equivalent or lower acuity units as needed
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal supervisor

This is a time-sensitive opportunity with strict compliance requirements. Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing. Former employees of this health system are eligible after a 6-month separation period. Local candidates are welcome at the same rate.
