Position: Dialysis Technician (PCT)

Overview

DaVita is looking for a Dialysis Tech (PCT) to serve our patients at our Columbus Dialysis Center in Columbus, OH. Paid training provided. This position offers opportunities for career advancement through our clinical ladder.

What You Can Expect
  • Direct Patient Care:
    Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment. PCTs care for up to 4-5 patients at a time.
  • Technician Duties:
    In the morning, the opening PCT prepares the water room and bicarb for patients, tests water for chlorine, and ensures tools are calibrated. Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Exposure to blood and needles is possible.
  • Physical requirements:

    Lift 5 to 50 pounds unassisted; stand, sit, stoop, walk, stretch, reach, and use full range of motions
  • Communication:
    Interact clearly and efficiently in person and by phone
  • Technology:
    Use computer and peripherals to meet goals
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Look for ways to improve processes for patients and teammates
  • Building relationships:
    Educate patients with end-stage renal disease who receive treatment about Kidney Dialysis related topics
  • Team:
    Work with a cross-functional team of clinicians under RN supervision
  • Schedule:

    Shifts may begin as early as 4:00 am and vary based on patient needs; your expected shift will be shared during the interview process
Responsibilities
  • Direct patient care and support to ensure safe dialysis treatment
  • Prepare water room, test water quality, calibrate equipment, and monitor patients before, during, and after treatment
  • Maintain charting and documentation with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to support patient care
  • Adhere to safety, health, and compliance standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Very dependable with a strong work ethic; eager to learn; meticulous with charting; personable with patients; able to handle early start times and long hours on your feet; thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
  • Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Physical and mental ability to work long hours on your feet; wear comfortable shoes
  • Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory
  • Healthcare experience preferred: BONENT, CHT, CNA, CMA, or Phlebotomy certification
