Position: Alcohol & Drug Counselor 2

We are hiring for an Alcohol and Drug Counselor 2 position that requires a license as a Chemical Dependency Counselor.

What You’ll Do At DBH
  • Conduct interviews and provide counseling services to alcohol and other drug dependent patients/clients
  • Facilitate screening and interviewing of patients/clients from intake to discharge
  • Deliver direct services including facilitating group and individual therapy
  • Perform overall case management and crisis intervention
  • Develop client treatment plans and ensure compliance with applicable standards, agency policies, and administrative regulations
  • Monitor clients’ progress in treatment; maintain clinical case records, documentation, and case files
  • Refer clients to community programs and resources and work closely with AA/NA volunteers
  • Participate as part of the treatment team (planning meetings, case presentation, and discussions) and provide services in accordance with principles of a therapeutic community
  • Complete and maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports
  • Maintain knowledge and adherence to compliance requirements for Joint Commission, ODBH, and COBH
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and conferences as required

This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of #10 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, mostly daytime hours with occasional evening shifts.

The position is located within Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare at 2200 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223.

Must have full Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor credential recognized by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board or other Ohio licensing authority, and a valid driver’s license.
