The Staff Radiation Therapist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Medical Center. The primary purpose of the Staff Radiation Therapist is to perform radiation therapy and imaging procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients for simulation and treatment for malignancies and pain. The Staff Radiation Therapist is responsible for the accurate delivery of prescribed planned courses of radiation therapy to patients in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
The Staff Radiation Therapist performs quality assessment activities, education, training, and oversight to radiation therapy students as directed by the Radiation Therapy Manager.
- Perform radiation therapy and imaging procedures, assisting in treatment planning and maintaining prescribed standards set forth by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Ensure accurate delivery of prescribed radiation therapy courses to patients.
- Reinforce patient education, monitor for unusual reactions or events, and observe radiation safety measures for patients and staff.
- Assist in student teaching, oversight, and supervision of radiation therapy students as directed.
- Provide patient education and participate in clinical education and clinical projects to support the Medical Center's education and research missions.
- Perform quality assessment activities for the Department of Radiation Oncology.
- For Hire: 2-year college degree or equivalent education/experience. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy Technology. Licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Department of Health in Radiation Therapy. 2+ years of Radiation Therapy experience.
- Ongoing: Meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions. Maintains registration and licensure through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Ohio Department of Health.
